Gunung Reng menjadi tanda kepada kami. Waktu kecil-kecil, bila kami lalu dan nampak Gunung Reng kami menjerit, "Yay! Dah masuk Kelantan! Yay! Dah nak sampai!" Setiap kali balik kampung. Dan Abah bila memandu di kawasan ini akan mula menyanyi lagu nyayian Lobo, "Ring! Ring telephone rings~"

Menurut sumber Al-Arqam yang menerbitkan buku kanak-kanak berkaitan gunung ini kononnya nama gunung ini diambil daripada nama seorang alim yang tinggal di sekitarnya, bernama Karim. Menurut cerita kawasan gunung itu dulunya kampung dan orang-orang kampung ada membuat temasya lagha sehingga Tuhan menurunkan bala dengan menghempap kampung itu dengan seketul gunung.

Adapun tok alim Karim ada menasihati orang kampung tetapi dia diusir keluar kampung yang menjadi titik tolak kepada bala itu. Nama gunung itu datang dari nama tok alim Karim dalam sebutan orang Kelantan. Karim menjadi rim menjadi reng.

Kerana sumber itu daripada Al-Arqam, Abe Min menolaknya mentah-mentah.

Tapi rupa-rupanya sejarah ni memang dipakai. Baki lagi nama asalnya saja lain sedikit. Menurut sejarah terpakai, nama Reng diambil daripada tempat asal batu itu di hulu Sungai Reng, Perak. Adapun perjalanan dari Gunung Reng ke hulu Sungai Reng memakan masa tiga hari tiga malam. Datang sekarang, di hulusungai itu ada sebuah kolam berbentuk Gunung Reng.

Gunung Reng pun dikaitkan orang dengan puteri penuh mistik orang-orang Kelantan, Puteri Saadong. Pun kisah yang aku pernah dengar tentang puteri ini ialah berkaitan dengan Bukit Panau, Tanah Merah. Daripada sepupu aku dia berkata, kenapa Bukit Panau kelihatan senget?

Kononnya dulunya Puteri Saadong bertapa di situ. Setiap kali orang kampung mahu kenduri, mereka akan meminjam pinggan mangkuk tuan puteri. Tapi tiap-tiap kali pinjam pecah. Pinjam, pecah. Pinjam. Pecah. Akhirnya Puteri Saadong murka dan terus menyepak Bulit Panau. Arkian, sengetlah ia.

Gunung Reng turut mendapat perhatian Lonely Planet.
Reng juga bermaksud kudrat atau tenaga dalam dialek Kelantan.

Kota moden Athens bercambah di sekeliling daerah Plaka yang dinaungi Akropolis. Dahulunya ialah kawasan penempatan orang Turki.

Letaknya di tengah-tengah antara daerah Psirri, medan Syntagma,medan Monastriaki dan Akropolis menjadikannya penuh dengan lorong-lorong yang bagaikan labirin.

Dan seperti biasa, daerah tua ini mengandung bangunan-bangunan dengan senibina neo-klasikal terbina sejak kurun ke-19 beratap genting merah.

Talang (saliran hujan) berbentuk kepala haiwan menarik perhatian I.K. Tan.

Kenderaan tidak boleh masuk ke sini atau sebetulnya tidak dapat masuk kerana jalan-jalannya yang sempit. Kesimpulannya di Greece ini semuanya berbukit dan jalan sempit.

Jalan Adrianou (tiada di dalam gambar) yang diambil namanya daripada Maharaja Hadrian telah terbukti merupakan jalan paling lama di situ dan masih dipakai mengikut laluan purbanya.

Sepanjang-panjang jalan ini penuh dengan kedai oleh-oleh. Boleh kata, jalan inilah Khan Khalili bagi Yunani.

Benarlah bagai dikata anak cikgu rozi, inilah mendalah paling jahat di situ...

Gah gila nampaknya. Cuma sebelum kami pergi kami tak consult anak cikgu rozi dulu, jadi awal-awal kami bantai naik Discovery.

Jadi awal-awal lagi aku dah terus demam.

Tuan-tuan dan puan-puan, saksikanlah. Dia hayun korang bukan sikit-sikit, tapi sampai lebih 90 darjah.

Masa tengah menjunam ke bawah, habis semua organ-organ jadi retroperitoneal.

Sampai termuntah-muntah orang yang naik (pakcik tengah lap muntah orang).

Pun begitu, masih ada makhluk-makhluk Tuhan yang belum insaf. Balun naik kali kedua. Konon nak feel naik malam-malam pulak.

Discovery sedang mengganas tak sanggup (tak sempat) nak ambik gambar diorang kena hayun.

Seksaan dah tamat. Muka-muka puas. Salah sorang sedang bersedia untuk muntah.

Demikian, 'new year party' di Dream Park. Menghabiskan cuti panjang yang bersisa sambil-sambil bertafakkur, apalah hadaf makhluk manusia buat mendalah-mendalah cenggini?

Kuil raksasa ini ialah projek mega diktator-diktator Athens demi menandingi Kuil Atremis di Ephesus tetapi terbengkalai apabila diktator-diktator digulingkan.

Ketika Athens kembali di bawah payung demokrasi, projek ini dihentikan atas sebab pembaziran kerana semata-mata tujuan kemegahan.

Tetapi Hadrian (lagi) sebagai seorang philhellenic berjaya menyiapkan kuil ini namun tetap musnah oleh serangan orang gasar.

Ada yang percaya, ia tidak pernah disiapkan kerana kos yang terlalu tinggi.

Orang-orang Turki punya kepercayaan pelik tentang kuil ini. Mereka memanggilnya Istana Balkis dan percaya ratu itu pernah tinggal di sini.

Gubenur Turki di Athens, Tsisdarakis, pernah meletupkan sebatang tiang kuil ini bagi tujuan mendapatkan bahan binaan untuk Masjid Monastriaki.
